t Lakeside we have a rich heritage in missions! Many of our very own saints have given their lives in taking the gospel around the world! As a church, we desire to build on their legacy. As each of us grows in our worship of our great God, the overflowing response will be to pray, to give, and/or to go.
And whereas there is often a “romantic,” naïve excitement that accompanies the notion of “missions”, as Piper reminds us, the reality will often include suffering and sacrifice: “The suffering of Christ is a call for a certain mindset toward suffering, namely, that it is normal, and that the path of love and missions will often require it.” Remember our missionaries today as they sacrifice that the “nations might be glad”. It is a worthy sacrifice.
